Overview

Rose Hill Farm is Grove Small Arms Club’s primary enclosed (tunnel) rifle range, used extensively for training, zeroing, and structured shooting. The range supports a wide variety of Section 1 firearms within defined limits.

The range consists of five lanes, usable for prone or bench shooting.

Booking & Eligibility Requirements

Pre-registration is mandatory for all Club events via the Club’s cloud-based booking system, Range-Mate.

  • Grove Small Arms Club members
  • Valid FAC and in-date club membership card must be brought by members
  • Invited guests may attend on Guest Days, which have been notified to the Police. Guests must be registered via Range-Mate on the invitation of a Grove member and booked onto a shoot
  • 10 years of age and over only

Dates & Times

  • Sessions held regularly every 6–8 weeks throughout the year
  • Arrive by 09:30 to register on the range log for the first detail and assist with setup. If allocated a later detail, arrive at least 30 minutes prior to that detail start time. Sessions start at 10:00 and last 5 hours
  • Sessions start at 10:00 and lasts 5 hours
  • Six details of either 45 or 60 minutes, each including a 15-minute target change
  • Details are pre-booked through the Shoot Co-ordinator
  • The Range Safety Brief is posted on Range-Mate, with key points reinforced by the RSO
  • Members may arrive during the day in time for the target change before their booked detail
  • Range Fees : £15

Firearms & Ammunition

  • Section 1 firearms only
  • Maximum muzzle energy: 4,500 joules (factory ammunition only)
  • Maximum muzzle velocity: 1,000 m/s (3,281 fps)
  • HME rifles may be permitted with prior written authorisation from the Club Secretary
  • Handloaded ammunition permitted only in accordance with NRA handloading rules and club declarations

Facilities & Notes

  • Paper or card targets only
  • Targets must be mounted on approved timber frames
  • Shooting conducted straight down the range with horizontal fire only
  • No camouflage or military-style clothing
  • Target placement and height strictly controlled under the range SOP
  • Five enclosed firing bays
  • Social area with conference facilities and kitchenette
  • Double hearing protection mandatory due to enclosed range; eye protection strongly advised
