Overview

Practical Mini-Rifle is a fast-paced shooting discipline using .22 LR semi-automatic rifles fitted with optics. Shooters engage steel and paper targets from a variety of positions, including standing, prone, kneeling, and barricades, under timed conditions.

The discipline is low recoil, cost-effective, and ideal for developing speed, accuracy, and positional shooting skills.

One-to-one supervision is provided for each shooter while actively firing.

The Viking range: an open-air quarry range, with clubhouse and toilets.

Rose Hill Farm Rifle Range: a modern 100 m indoor range, suitable for positional and practical drills in all weathers. It has a social area, toilets and a kitchenette.

Booking & Eligibility Requirements

Pre-registration is mandatory for all Club events via the Club’s cloud-based booking system, Range-Mate.

  • Grove Small Arms Club members only
  • Valid FAC and in-date club membership card must be brought by members
  • 14 years of age and over only

Dates & Times

  • Sessions are held year-round, mostly at Viking (HG) Pistol Club, typically on a bi-monthly basis.
  • Arrive at the range no later than 0930 hrs for the mandatory Range Safety Briefing and an explanation of the course of fire.
  • Range Fees : £15

Firearms & Ammunition

Section 1 firearms (0.22 calibre only) semi-autmatic fitted with an optic.

Limited rifles may be made available to Club members by prior arrangement

• Minimum of two 25-round magazines

• 200–300 rounds of ammunition

Facilities & Notes

  • No camouflage or military-style clothing
  • Hearing protection and eye protection are mandatory
