This is our nearest long-distance range and a favourite for Grove members who use higher muzzle energy rifles. The range itself goes all the way out to 1,200 yards (nearly 3/4 of a mile)!
Barton Road range is located just off Junction 12 of the M11, in Cambridgeshire. (MAP)
We assemble at the Range Warden’s office between 08.00 and 08.30.
Please be sure to arrive in good time. The more people we have setting up, the quicker we can start shooting.
Shooting starts at 9.00 a.mand goes on until 4.00 p.m. For dates, please see the calendar.
Range fee: £20.
We shoot at 800, 1,000 and 1,200 yards, in up to six lanes.
A zero check may be undertaken at 200m to ensure that rifles are properly zeroed before shooting commences. Handloads are permitted but is your responsibility to know what level of energy your ammunition produces and that it is within range limits.
At Barton Road, like many of our other fullbore ranges, the whole day is spent outdoors. So, if it pours down, your car is the place to go. Lunch is usually taken on the fly.
Unlike many other ranges, this one does have toilets.
OVER-16s ONLY. PLEASE BRING YOUR SCC, FAC AND PROOF OF MEMBERSHIP.
SORRY, NO GUESTS AT THIS RANGE. GROVE OR OTHER LICENSED CLUB MEMBERS ONLY.
