thetford ranges

Thetford

thetford gallery

A 600yd gallery range, with firing points at every 100yds. A standard gallery set-up with firing pits and prone positions and a slight down slope from 300 to 100 with the targets approximately on a level with the 300m firing point. Shoots commence at 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Stanta

Please meet at the cross roads (see map linked) for the stanta battle areas listed below at between 8:00-8:30am. From there we will travel in convoy to the appropriate range.

archers

A 250m advance to contact range. Targets are from 25m to 250m (10 targets) and when standing at the 250m mark two more statics and a moving target are visible.

robins lodge

More than 30 ETR targets and many moving ones as well, at ranges of about 30 to 300yds. There is a trench running the whole length of the firing point (about 200yds) with firing pits and dugouts going forward at various intervals. Nearly all targets can be engaged from all the firing points (some of the edge targets can only be taken from the end points) and generous arcs of fire give good team shoot possibilities.

great carr

Up to 400m section support range. Two separate firing points allow the targets to be caught in a crossfire. Generous arcs of fire with many static and a few running targets. Extra targets can be added out to a range of at least 800 yards.

other ranges

Surlingham

surlingham

Surlingham range has 6 lanes at 25 yards or 45 yards and is cleared for black powder, .22 rimfire and pistol calibres.

Shoots commence at 1:30pm and finish at 4:00pm. Please note that there is a 15 minute walk from the parking area.

barton road

Shooting distance is between 600 and 1200 yards. 6 firing points can be used at the 600 yard distance, while only 4 firing points at the ranges of 800 to 1200 yards. Arrivals to be before 8:30am, shooting to start 9:00am finish 3:00pm

rickinghall

The Grove Smallarms Club is trying to make Practical shotgun a full time event.

The club does have a very loose agreement with the organizers at the Rickinghall black powder/shotgun range, but as it stands we can only shoot up to 4 times per year.

Rickinghall is a disused chalk pit and the range is cleared for use of black powder, .22 rimfire and shotgun at 50 yards and 100 yards. Shoots are between 10:00am to 4:00pm. As a club we do have all the PSA approved steel plates, but we are in need of a more full time range to do this event. Any suggestions or help on this would be very much appreciated.
